The KV-1 is one of the toughest heavy tanks in Mid-War. With front armour 9 it is almost immune to all but the heaviest dedicated anti-tank guns. The KV-1s trades some armour for more speed, and is a better shooting platform than the KV-1. This makes it more like a really well armoured medium tank than a heavy tank.
