With the progress of shipbuilding and navigation, countless brave explorers adventure on the sea, discovering unknown land and islands. The fleets of several countries travel through the oceans. The opening of new maritime roads accelerates cultural and commercial exchanges and announces the advent of a new era. In Discovery: The Age of Discovery, players embody ambitious captains that lead their fleet to glory. By exchanging goods and commodities, investing and developing your activities, you will build up reputation and influence on the islands. In Discovery, players MUST move their ship between the different island maps surrounding a central island. Moving follows some very simple rules (clockwise or counter-clockwise only, stop on an island depends on the presence of other players, etc.). The number of trips is as limited by the money the player chooses to spend. When the ship stops on an island, the player CAN choose to invest on it or retrieve resources on it; this costs resources and/or money. If the player has already invested on an island in previous game rounds, he CAN harvest the most important resources in it. Each player has only 8 investment tokens reflecting their influence. Each island has its own set of resources. The number of investments per island is limited, so players struggle to know who will have the greatest influence on each island. When a player puts their last Token Investment, the round ends and the game ends. Players then receive Victory Points depending on the islands where they have the most investments. These PVs are added to those that may be won during the game. After this count, the player who has accumulated the most PV wins.
