The Nikka Whisky Distilling Co., Ltd. was established in 1934 as Dai Nippon Kaju Co., Ltd. 6 years after that, the first whisky “NIKKA WHISKY” was launched and shown to the public. It was Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, who founded the Nikka Whisky. The name is the shortened form of “Nippon Kaju,” the first name associated to the company before deciding on what it is called today.
