The Glenrothes 2001 700ml

It has been three years since the launch of the last Glenrothes Vintage (1998) and the last of the Speyside distillery with the barrel-shaped bottle was new, in 2001, another limited edition attached closely with the home-style of Glenrothes. Bottled in mid-2012, it's an 11-year-old malt whiskey.

Nose: Vanilla, citrus. The palate is quite bountiful at first, but this disappears as the spirit opens, and as the next wave of flavours begins to develop. As it develops, it reveals notes of sandalwood, sherry, creme brulee, and even touches of strawberry and chocolate in the finish. Over time, patches of lemon and menthol also develop, but the nose brings everything back to the way it was when it started.
