Hoegaarden is a top-fermented natural white beer brewed according to a traditional recipe from unmelted wheat, special yeast and special ingredients. After natural barrel fermentation, it is re-fermented in the bottle - this gives the drink a golden hue. Its taste has a pleasant spicy

sour tinge of coriander and orange.

The first brewers of this beer were the monks of the town of Hoegarden in 1445. They added coriander and orange peel to the drink. This beer continued to be brewed for centuries until 1957, when the last brewery in Hoegarden closed. In 1965, the milkman Pierre Celis, in order not to lose a unique recipe,

started his own small production right in his barn. Soon the activity of production expanded and, paying tribute to the monks - the inventors of the recipe, it received the name “De Klyayus”, which means a cell.

Until 1985, production was already 75,000 hectoliters per year. But there was a big fire that completely destroyed the brewery.

Neither bank was willing to help renovate the brewery until the Stella Artois brewers offered to help in exchange for a stake in the business. This led to a resurgence of the legendary wheat beer.

In 1987, AB InBev became the owner of the secrets of making Hoegaarden and protects this unique beer to this day.

Hoegarden beer is often referred to as "Cold Sun". This name was given to the beer for a slight aftertaste of coriander and orange zest, as well as for a very low recommended drinking temperature. This beer perfectly quenches thirst and a hot day.
