The remarkable properties of TEEDA rum are attributed to the process of distillation in a pot still and subsequent aging in American white oak barrels after Bourbon for 5-15 years.
Okinawa is the southernmost part of Japan, it has a subtropical climate, and this island is the only place where sugar cane is grown in this country. Logically, the place where the exceptional and exotic TEEDA rum is produced also means "Sun".
Teeda is produced at the Helios Distillery. The history of the distillery itself is very interesting. The distillery was originally called Taiyou, it was founded in 1961 by Tadashi Matsuda and mainly supplied rum to the local American civil administration. In 1969, the company changed its name to HELIOS and today, in addition to excellent rum, it also produces beer, sake and the local rice spirit, awamori.
The remarkable properties of TEEDA rum are attributed to the process of distillation in a pot still and subsequent aging in American white oak barrels after Bourbon for 5-15 years. The youngest rum used is indicated on the label. TEEDA is very aromatic and many different layers can be recognized in the taste. Caramel is not used for coloring. TEEDA rum is simply as interesting as the island of Okinawa itself.
