Okinawa is the southernmost part of Japan, it has a subtropical climate, and this island is the only place where sugar cane is grown in this country. Logically, the place where the exceptional and exotic TEEDA rum is produced also means "Sun".
Teeda is produced at the Helios Distillery. The history of the distillery itself is very interesting. The distillery was originally called Taiyou, it was founded in 1961 by Tadashi Matsuda and mainly supplied rum to the local American civil administration. In 1969, the company changed its name to HELIOS and today, in addition to excellent rum, it also produces beer, sake and the local rice spirit, awamori.
