Created in 1955, Rochefort 8 was originally a year-end brew that is now, fortunately, made available year-round, and was named after its original gravity measured in Belgian Degrees - a scale no longer used today. Pouring deep mahogany-brown with a fine lacy head, Rochefort 8 boasts an impressively aromatic bouquet composed of toasted cocoas, dark malts, raisin and jammy, figgy fruit notes. The palate is dominated by a spicy dryness that develops into softer chocolate, leather, fig and caramel traits. Vigorous, complex, firm and remarkably well-balanced, Rochefort 8 is best enjoyed when served in a glass.
